Week 1- a few days at the hospital and family and visitors at the house
Week 2- rested, recovered, and got to know Carter and the dynamic of he and Cooper
Week 3- kept a sick Cooper at home with Carter and I while Patrick got back to traveling
Week 4- tried to get a routine started and then came down with a sinus infection that had me out of commission for days
Week 5- traveled to Atlanta
Week 6- Patrick and I had a stomach bug the first half of the week, then Carter and I ran errands and wrapped things up the remainder of the week
Each day I remember thinking o.k. when do I get to take a shower? put away the clean laundry? organize this or that?
My thoughts on Sunday as I cried thinking about this transition: Am I ready to leave him? Is Carter ready? IS ANY MOM EVER READY? I also decided that instead of feeling unaccomplished it was better to reflect on the true blessing that I had a paid maternity leave and I did get to spend so much time with our new baby right by my side. Further, it is an accomplishment to be a Mom of two and be able to share that with my amazing husband- no matter what gets done at the end of the day.
Thankfully we have three sets of awesome parents that always want to help us and their grandchildren whenever possible, so Paula is here keeping Carter at home for a week-and-a-half and my Mom is covering a couple of days.....making this transition a little easier.
Carter will start going to the babysitters house at 8 weeks instead of a young 6 weeks. He will go where Cooper goes, Ms Nicole's Safari Kids (she watches Cooper, three other toddlers and one 10 month old). The talking toddlers tell me that Cooper is their best friend and they all hug each other every morning. Nevertheless, this great environment gives me lots of comfort and I know Carter will be in good hands.

Quick question for you ... how did you get word of a babysitter? Ed and I are expecting and are starting to look at childcare options. I would prefer an in-home sitter over a daycare at 6-8 weeks old! Oh and your boys are just too cute!
love everything you said here! what a terrific blog entry!
hope everything is going great for you!!
