We were on the Carnival Fascination "Fun Ship" out of Jacksonville, FL from Thursday to Monday. We took in little pieces of the boat activities and little pieces of the two ports of call we visited.
Let's see...we wined and dined oh and beered and pina colada'd too-haha. Played in the casinos, did a little duty-free shopping. Went to a comedy show on board and a Dance show (which by the way I fell asleep during so I hope real Vegas acts keep your attention). We had a close dolphin encounter. We tried local beers and local conch. Oh and we got great suntans and took many naps. We played putt-putt with a group of ten year old boys who called us "Patrick Woods" and "Nice Pretty Lady". Patrick won a trophy in a two day ping pong tournament! We drank drinks called Blue Marlin's and Bahamas Kalik Beer, and got smashed on a drink called Goombay Smash.
In Nassau, our day was spent at Atlantis- first at our dolphin encounter then touring the incredible property and resort. I 100% want to return their and just vacation at Atlantis- there were water slides that went through the aquarium tanks. There were tons of different pools and eating/drinking places, gorgeous beaches, sea life exhibits everywhere (even little caves you walked through to go find the bathroom had fish tanks in them), casino, etc etc. We filled that day with adventure and fun- if you don't believe us we got back on the ship around 6:30 to get a nap before dinner and did not wake up until midnight (great thing about that is we were on a cruise ship with food anywhere all night).
The next day we had a short day in Freeport, which turned out tons better than we anticipated. We took a long cab ride to Grand Bahama Island, where the public resort beach is and the "market". This is where we found real coconuts falling off the trees, haggled for some silly local souvenirs, and tried some amazing Conch Ceviche.
That boat was a rockin' but Dramamine saved the day, well every day, for me and I had no problems. I started getting home sick and really missing the babies towards the end there, but a nice little phone call home cured me up and helped finish the last day-and-a-half nicely. I think we both felt as if we were still on a ship for all of Monday and maybe even some of today. We are happy to have had the chance to go away together and thanks to Paula for coming down to keep the boys and allowing it to happen for us.
