Bachelorette "Retreat"

I started to title this blog uncreatively "Allison's Bachelorette Party Weekend", but found that to not describe this at all. Bachelor/Bachelorette parties have commonly become weekend trips. Since I was married, a measly 7 years ago, I have been on a bachelorette weekend cruise for one friend and most recent a mountain "retreat" weekend. 15 of us stayed in a luxury Mountain Lodge, where we cooked many of our own feasts, rode horses, had in home massages, watched wedding movies in a movie room, and enjoyed fire pits and hot-tubs. Each morning, we sipped our coffee outside with Buffalo and many other friendly animals in our front yard. My best friend Allison is marrying Matt just before Christmas and a wild party weekend was not what she had in mind, for which I am actually quite thankful. Many of you might think this was a calm, uneventful trip, but not with my friends. Their are always stories to tell. We should title one "Horses Gone Wild" as I have a never-ending image in my head of two of our friends bopping like rag dolls from the side of their slow (not this time) trail horses....they made it out unharmed (physically at least). The next "what kind of crazy things happen in the dark" when a house full of scary movie watching womens' power went out around 1am out in the middle of nowhere. Each of us fed off the other as to what was going to happen to us. Nonetheless, the four day away from reality trip was special to celebrate Allison getting married and honor her 13 times as a bridesmaid. One thing to mention of this incredible lodge we stayed in is that the proceeds of the rental go to a children's foundaing "Mountain Miracles". The place was certainly one I hope to return to with my husband. Here is a link if you want to check it out.
