Trick-My-Treat

The Halloween festivities started with our very first "party" to attend as parents in the boys' classrooms. I was so excited about it all week to see them with their cute little friends. Cooper talks about his friends a lot at home, and I know who they are but it was cute to see them really interact. Carter's baby class decided to finish their naps instead of attend the party.

Cooper with his two friends Garrison and Miles (he talks about Miles on the right all the time). What's funnier is that the teacher says Cooper and Miles have a hate/love relationship- pick on each other then play wonderfully

My first school party with Cooper
We started off Saturday with a carnival at Savannah Quarters- games, bouncy, food and oh yes can not forget the Haunted House. They had a Haunted House and were doing "not scary small children walk-throughs". So I took Cooper and he was fine, me on the other hand....not fine. I am scared to death of Haunted Houses so I made a big deal the entire short walk through saying "Cooper ooh it's dark and scary", while holding him close, trying to play down my fear. The rest of the time we were at the Carnival all Cooper kept saying was I want go Dark and Scawy, I was not going in again so Patrick jumped on board to take him through. They finally agree to go back in and just before they enter the door, Cooper says no not go in Dark and Scawy. .....so now, when it is dark, it is not just dark, but Dark and Scawy. Whoops, looks like I started something but I don't think he is truly scared but thinks he is supposed to be scared.

So Patrick and Cooper practiced trick or treating for 45 mins the other night, so Cooper would not try to run in to people's houses like he did last year. Listening to the two of them was hilarious. The boys were dressing up as Elephant and Peanut. Cooper picked out his costume and had been telling me for over a month he wanted to be an elephant. Low and behold, he hates the floppy ear hat thing so I was not sure how the night was going to go. Without the ears, he looked like a piece of gray fleece. Anyway, Carter's costume stole the show this year. It was freaking hilarious. We had a dress rehersal a few days prior and I could not stop laughing every time I saw the peanut waddling around and the image has not left.

This is the only image of the Elephant and Peanut posing together
These shots do a good job of showing how much Cooper "loved" his costume. He would not even let me pull the foot covers over his shoes and it was mid-80's, so his gray turtleneck was not happening
Elephant and Peanut "Trick or Treating"

Cooper and Jackson taking a candy (and sweat) break

Funny man with no costume but a blue face- and just before they both stripped off their costumes and were done with the heat.
I was so embarrassed finishing up trick-or-treating with a child in no costume, I would hold up Carter in the background and yell "he was an elephant". I just remember how I used to get so annoyed at kids that did that, so I could not help but cover for him. At one of our last houses a little boy Cooper's age, handing out candy, asked Cooper for a hug- every house thereafter got a second knock or doorbell ring so Cooper could get a hug.

I forgot to post the official "Carter walking" video, so thought this was way funnier to watch. Carter officially walks most places now and here he is in full Halloween peanut get-up.
